 MA 425 is an introduction to mathematical analysis. Students will

• develop an understanding of the theory underpinning the calculus.
• develop their proof skills in one dimensional calculus.
• understand the concepts of the real number system, functions, limits, continuity, differential and integral calculus of one variable, and uniform convergence.

Introduction to Real Analysis, Fourth Edition, by Robert G. Bartle and Donald R. Sherbert.  Price $100.

5. Tentative schedule of reading assignments
 

Read the sections to be covered for the week.

Homework will be worked on in groups.  Thursdays will be used for class presentations with the written work turned in on Fridays.

There will be three Tests, scheduled depending on class progress.

The final is on Monday, Dec. 9 at 1:00 pm. It is a 3 hour test.

Late homework assignments will not be graded.
